Rainfall Figures

On Monday 25th June 2007, residents awoke to find that torrential overnight rain had caused the beck which runs alongside the new bypass to overflow flooding the petrol station and Spar shop as well as nearby houses.

On the Dalby Road, the volume of water in the beck was too much to pass under the bridge.  The water spilled over the bridge and flooded the road.  Three houses at this end of the village were already under threat from rising water from the beck which runs along the bottom of their gardens.  The water rushing over the road at the front of the houses proved too much for the hastily filled and deposited sandbags.  One house took the brunt of the water, flooding to a depth of 9 inches.  Another house was partially flooded and a third escaped with water leaking through airbricks under the floors.

The Skegness Road was also flooded outside the Rectory.

The villagers rallied to the aid of those affected - 29 people alone helping those affected on Dalby Road.  Just as well really, as the only 'official' response came from a police van driving along Dalby Road which slowed up to allow an officer to comment "Not a very nice morning for it" before driving through the flood creating a bow wave.

Some photographs show the scene on Dalby Road.
